Meajazz will return to Luso with the “Wine Fest” highlighting wines and sparkling wines

Tomorrow and Saturday, Meajazz – Jazz, Blues & Wine Fest will return to Parque do Lago, in Luso (Mealhada municipality), with free concerts by some of the most relevant national and international names in jazz, blues and soul.
The event will feature "an eclectic lineup with a strong artistic identity, reinforcing its role as a reference on the national circuit." The music will be combined with the "Wine Fest" concept, a partnership with Rota da Bairrada, which will create a space dedicated to the region's sparkling wines and promote local producers.
Tomorrow, the night will begin at 9 p.m., with a carefully curated musical selection by DJ Rui Rosa, who is responsible for the festival's entire soundscape.
Half an hour later, Twanguero, the Spanish guitarist who has gained global recognition with his unique "Latin Twang" style, will take the stage. Known for blending flamenco, tango, jazz, country, and bolero with an electric guitar with a rock 'n' roll heritage, he will present his acclaimed album "Panamerica," where each track is "an instrumental journey through the exuberance of tropical rhythms and the Latin American forest."
A new performance by DJ Rui Rosa will follow at 10:30 p.m., before Kiko & The Blues Refugees, a Portuguese superband led by Kiko Pereira and featuring musicians such as António Mão de Ferro, Jorge Filipe Santos, Carl Minnemann, and João Cunha, takes the stage minutes later. To close out the night, the DJ will once again take over the dance floor.
On Saturday, Rui Rosa will once again kick things off at 9 p.m. Afterwards, the spotlight will be on Trevor Babajack Steger, a British musician who won Best Acoustic Artist at the 2023 British Blues Awards. With a career that combines authenticity and emotion, he will bring to the stage "a visceral and contemporary approach to the blues, in a performance that promises to surprise both purists and the more curious."
DJ Rui Rosa will return before Jéssica Pina's performance, scheduled for 10:45 p.m. The Portuguese trumpeter and singer has forged a remarkable career both at home and abroad—after joining Madonna's world tour, she was invited by artists such as Mikky Blanco and the Brooklyn Funk Essentials, and has performed at renowned venues such as CoolJazz, Sol da Caparica, and Joy of Jazz in South Africa.
With a unique blend of jazz, soul, and Portuguese-speaking music, the festival will close with "a performance that promises emotion, charisma, and virtuosity." The music will continue
- then, with the last performance of DJ Rui Rosa.
"Meajazz has already become a nationally renowned festival and we strive to feature artists with diverse influences each year, some established and others emerging, always with a high level of performance, in order to please the most demanding audiences, but simultaneously surprise and captivate new audiences," said Filomena Pinheiro, vice-president of the Mealhada Municipal Council.
The councilor highlighted "the novelty of associating endogenous wine products, with the partnership of Rota da Bairrada, enriching the event and highlighting the wines and sparkling wines of our region."
